When we think of open-world games, few survive the test of time when it comes to relevance. FromSoftware’sElden Ringisn’t just an open-world adventure. It’s filled with mysteries that are yet to be solved, and challenges that may ask you to meditate on your anger issues.

Fortunately, the game has ample items for players that can soothe this journey, making the experience much more fulfilling. However, there’s always the possibility of adding some flair to it. Here’s a list of five items found in other games that would be a great addition to FromSoft’s deftly crafted universe.
5Lords of the Fallen – Umbral Lamp
Among the many Soulslike games that have tried to be a spiritual contender to FromSoftware’s games,Lords of the Fallenstands out as a unique journey that shuffles between two realms. Inour review of the game, we mentioned how “it’s impossible to imagine how the game would function without the dual worlds.”
Instead of Axiom and Umbral,Elden Ringplayers can perhaps switch between The Lands Between and The Land of Shadow. When the Umbral Lamp is activated inElden Ring, the Tarnished can immediately teleport to the“other”side of the realm where different characters tell unique, and bosses vary.

4Horizon Forbidden West – Shieldwing
Trustworthy Torrent can get you to most places inElden Ring. In fact, if you can find something at a distance, you can likely reach it. The Tarnished’s trustworthy Spectral Speed Whistle is an efficient item in the game that lets you summon Torrent anytime. But, his movement can feel limited.
5 Indie Xbox Game Pass Games You Shouldn’t Be Ignoring
Given the vastness of the game (combined withShadow of the Erdtree), it won’t be surprising to have players wishing they could fly. Or at least, glide through the wondrous landscapes FromSoftware has created with such detail.
Horizon Forbidden West’sAloy has the luxury of using an impressive glider called Shieldwing, that lets her traverse across varying landscapes. InElden Ring, this could assist players as they uncover new locations or simply wish to glide from one point to another without having to fall to their deaths.

3Ghost of Tsushima – Flute
Ghost of Tsushima’sbreathtaking world is full of secrets to explore. However, every once in a while, it’s tempting to simply sit, meditate, or play the flute. The soothing instrument can be used almost any time in the game and lets players change the weather and even befriend furry creatures.
InElden Ring, an instrument like this can serve different purposes. Other than swapping weathers or day and night cycles, the Tarnished can maybe use the flute to communicate with other beings or feel more connected with the Lands Between.

Elden Ring’s 5 Best Spirit Ash Summons and Why You’ll Want to Use Them
Think of it as using a Spirit Calling Bell but for more soothing and meditative purposes. This can then be used in quests to unlock new pathways and meet characters that were otherwise unavailable.
2Cyberpunk 2077 – Skippy
Remember Claptrap from Borderlands and how annoying (yet lovable) he can be? Now imagine him as a pistol. A pistol that has funny, informative, and off-beat dialogues. WhileElden Ringisn’t a home for guns and related shenanigans (pun intended), a talking weapon would fit right in, sometimes.
Imagine picking up a Greatsword forged by a God in the Lands Between, long before the Tarnished even stepped foot in these treacherous realms. The sword speaks to you in different ways – words, special effects, sounds, lights… could be anything.

The game’s incredibly deep and convoluted lore has enough stories to tell, and it would be interesting to have a weapon or item communicate some of it.
1The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Sheikah Slate
The Tarnished and Link don’t have much in common, but both of them have to rely on useful tools through their journey in a massive open world to make the adventure feel a bit less daunting. For a moment, picture Link’s Sheikah Slate in the hands ofElden Ringplayers.
5 Characters You Need to Unlock ASAP in The First Descendant
The Sheikah Slate is a powerful that helps Link use the power of Runes, locate Shrines, and serve as a key tool in the game’s narrative. InElden Ring, it can likely help players navigate their vicinity better by giving clues and other indicators that set the pace for a quest line.
It can also serve as a major gameplay system by allowing the Tarnished to use it whenever necessary to create sorceries, explosions, and other combat mechanics that can help in battle.
While these are just five items, surely you must have thought of something that’s not on the list. In your journey throughoutElden Ring, what were certain items from other games that caught your fancy? Let us know in the comments below.
