However, portraying the role was far from easy, especially in 2000 as the actor exposed a fascinating behind-the-scenes secret, which focused on making the movie as realistic as possible for audiences.

Hugh Jackman Used a Prosthetic Arm inX-Men

Back in 2009, the actor made an appearance on theFriday Night With Jonathan Ross, where he spilled the tea about a particular sequence from his firstX-Menmovie. The actor shared that the iconic scene where Wolverine’s claws first appeared in the 2001 movie was achieved using a fake arm.

He explained that the prosthetic arm was specially constructed to showcase the claws emerging to makeWolverine‘s character more realistic, which might have looked otherwise had they relied solely on computer-generated imagery (CGI).

Hugh Jackmancontinued that he held one arm behind his back meanwhile the crew was managing the fake arm to match his movements while cameras were rolling. He shared,

I had to act the entire scene with one arm behind my back while four guys were holding a fake arm, and that scene where I’m holding the guy up against the bar, it was actually a fake arm with the whole thing that came out.

Although the actor had no idea about the fake prop’s cost, he confirmed that they only used it for“one shot and never again.”He admitted that it would have been difficult to film the entire movie with the prosthetic arm.

Despite the complexities, the visual effects added a layer of believability to the superhero’s powers. This showed that the filmmakers were focused on bringing the best for audiences. However, this was far from the tidbit he shared in the interview, as he also reflected on the risks that were introduced to using it.
