Publisher Square Enix has released extended gameplay footage from Harvestella during the recentNintendo Treehouse Showcase, giving players their first in-depth look at some of the key aspects of the upcoming RPG, such as farming, combat, daily life, and boss fights.
Square Enix and developer Live Wire were in the spotlight to reveal more about their latest project, Harvestella, at yesterday’sNintendoTreehouse live stream, which also features a presentation for Splatoon 3. The thirty minutes of gameplay gave a brief idea of what to expect from the game, detailing combat mechanics, exploration, and farming. However, the presentation does not share much about the RPG elements, which are expected to change throughout the course of the story. Although the protagonist makes some choices within well-written dialogues, we fail to see how important these choices will be to the story.
The gameplay footage showcases that players can interact with bosses that they encounter while exploring wide canyons for resources. As seen in the trailer, the protagonist engages in combat with a boss unicorn, defeating her foe using a straightforward playstyle. It looks like bosses won’t be able to move fast, but they will be resistant enough to make your combat experience even more challenging. Another thing to mention about the combat system is that players can change their job before attacking enemies. This means players can choose to be either a mage or a fighter, depending on their preferences.
As for farming, players will have their own lands to set up their gardens. Players will irrigate fruits and vegetables after planting them, like grapes, lettuce, potatoes, and onion, so they can be harvested later on. As we can see from the gameplay trailer plants do not take much time to grow. Players will either cook their plants to restore their health and stamina or sell them to make money. When they earn enough money, players can go downtown to buy items, positions, and seeds. Additionally, players can earn money by selling the fish on their shipping cases.
Going into more details, there will be plenty of wide canyons in which players can find loots that can be used to craft items. The canyons also feature puddles for fishing. Players will see their current jobs in the lower left corner of the screen, while skills and the map will appear on the right side. Additionally, they will have the ability to teleport their homes to drop off the materials they have collected while roaming around the canyons.
Described as a ‘new-life simulation game’ by the developer team, Harvestella will launch for Nintendo andPCviaSteamon November 4th.
