Right before going on a prolonged break, Eiichiro Oda dropped some of the most interestingOne Piecechapters, probably because it gives fans a lot to think about. The last chapter revealed Loki’s character design in the series and key information about his Devil Fruit. Fans have been coming up with interesting theories to find out what Loki’s Devil Fruit could be like. Even though it has only been a few chapters since the arc began, Oda laid its foundation early in the story during the Little Garden Arc.

Since then, fans have been keeping track of the hints dropped along the way on what could unfold on Elbaf. The foreshadowing and hints are proving to be null as many theories suggest that Loki’s fruit could closely follow the legends of Norse Mythology. If these theories turn out to be true, Elbaf will not only be exciting but extremely different from everything we’ve seen so far.

One Piece Fan TheoryHints at Loki Possessing this Mythical Devil Fruit

Thelast chapterbefore the break showed us Loki’s character design and how he’s restrained with chains for his past deeds. He also has his eyes covered. A discussion between Robin and the giants also disclosed that Loki wields a legendary Devil Fruit that has been passed down through generations. Loki committed evil crimes to get that fruit in his possession. Moreover, the entire army of Giants was required to restrain him due to his overall strength.

Inthis YouTube video, a few theories that have been floating on the internet are discussed. The one that makes the most sense is the Fenrir-themed fruit. The biggest evidence that supports this theory is the wolves. Chopper mentioned it to Luffy as well before he set out on his own. According to Norse mythology, Fenrir was Loki’s son and a giant wolf. He was an integral part of the Ragnarok that was initiated by Surtur.

Fenrir was also chained and he broke free to attack Odin and eventually kill him. Many fans believe that Loki could either have a Surtur-themed Devil Fruit or a Fenrir-themed one for the similarities he shares with them. While we don’t know where Loki’s interest lie, both these fruits could mean that he might turn out to be  Luffy’s ally in the Final War. Loki’s strength and some evidences from Little Garden also hint at another potential Devil Fruit.

Another Mind-blowing Possibility!

So far, fans believe that the Devil Fruit powers would be based on one of Loki’s children, more specifically Jörmungand or Fenrir. Hel hasn’t been as frequently mentioned in this discussion. However, there’s another possibility, Loki could just simply be Loki. He was a renowned trickster with a questionable moral compass. He had committed his fair share of crimes ranging from simple tricks to proper crimes.

His personality signifies that he’s not someone who can be trusted but could very well turn things around conveniently. If Loki is indeed based on the trickster God, he could be an accomplice for Luffy, one who isn’t as submissive to Luffy as everyone we’ve come across. While all these theories are fascinating in their right, there’s one major problem with each one of them. Fans are expectingEiichiro Odato create the Devil Fruit based on all these legends.

However, Oda is known to defy what fans expect of him and it’s hard to imagine him going down a path that has been already carved out. He might take inspirations from Loki’s children or Loki himself, but he probably won’t incorporate every part of their story into his own.
