Fighting games have some of the best costume designs in gaming, as they are all designed to be unique to the universe and offer their own style. This is taken a step further when video game designers try making characters with scary attributes. Some costumes fail to do this, but many excel in driving fear into the player.

This list will go over the different costume designs in fighting games that are some of the most terrifying to look at or go up against. The costumes are designed for the base character or different DLCs that might have been created for characters in fighting games.

10Zombie Guile - Street Fighter V

Zombie Guile is part of aHalloween-themed DLCfor Street Fighter V. This skin makes him look like he’s been completely torn apart by another zombie. They somehow managed to squeeze this into a rated T game. He has giant gashes on most of his body that add to his torn-up aesthetic.

Another part of the costume design that deserves attention is that the design is very similar to the original Guile from Street Fighter 2. The skin is one of the best zombie designs in fighting games.

9Jedah - Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite

Jedah’s base costume in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is not conventionally terrifying. The character nonetheless looks frightening when floating toward his opponent, flapping his tiny scythe wings at odd moments in battle.

The royal purple surrounding his outfit also showcases his arrogant personality. His outfit also accentuates his atrocious details that show when he gives bursts of deranged laughter while hurting his opponents. Additionally, his outfit also contorts when he bursts one of his limbs to damage his opponent.

8Leopaldon - Guilty Gear Isuka

Leopaldon appeared only inGuilty Gear Isukaand has yet to make a return to the series since. This is most likely due to his base costume’s horrific appearance and massive stature. The character is actually the black armored person in the center of the giant monstrosity that looks like it is devouring them.

The character comprises a dog, the black armored person, and a giant gear that looks like it has merged with a dog. There is no real telling where one part of this character begins and the other ends, as it looks like one jumbled mesh of animals being ridden by a drumming wizard.

D’Vorah fromMortal Kombat 11is already terrifying in her original costume, but in her Hallows' Eve DLC Bad Nurse outfit, she feels like someone who would terrorize her victims in 1940s hospitals. Her outfit creates a psychological horror aspect to her with the trusting nature of a nurse mixed with D’Vorah’s maniacal state.

Leopaldon In Guilty Gear

The addition of bandaged appendages with large syringes coming out of the ends instead of her normal insect limbs is dreadful. They look as though they’ve been sown onto her rather than them having belonged to her since birth.

6Voldo - Soul Calibur V

Voldo has a lot of creepy costumes, but the one inSoul Calibur Vis surely the creepiest. This outfit is a combination of fur, straps, and a mask. The odd part about the mask is that instead of being strapped to his face, it’s placed on his private area, most likely to give him the appearance of having two faces when he walks like a spider.

His face has to be the most petrifying part of his costume, as it is covered with a series of straps that feel suffocating to stare at. Though Voldo is supposed to be human, he appears more like a character from the Hellraiser series that escaped into a fighting game.

Raidou is the primary antagonist of Dead or Alive, and he makes one terrifying villain as he does some of the evilest acts to have ever occurred in fighting games. Raidou is already pretty scary in the first game, but his new half-cyborg form inDead or Alive 6is a lot more terrifying.

Voldo With His Creepy Fury Costume In Soul Caliber V

His costume is composed mainly of human components, but now half of his face is robotic, including the entirety of one of his arms and half of the other one. He also has a blood-red aura that exudes from his body.

4Double - Skull Girls

Double in Skull Girls' base costume design is unreal as she starts as a nun and then morphs into a gelatinous fleshy form with transforming abilities. Her natural form feels Lovecraftian, which a human mind wouldn’t be able to comprehend if it appeared in the natural world.

She spends very little time in her natural monstrous form and instead morphs into the other Skull Girls, using their different moves as her primary method of attack.

3Jason Vorhees - Mortal Kombat X

Jason Vorhees is a DLC character for Mortal Kombat X. In the game, he keeps his creepy iconic character design with the signature ski mask. His eyes underneath the mask are barely visible, and his clothes are all torn up, which adds to the faceless serial killer vibes.

Every part of him looks like a psychotic killer ready to take out his opponent, and he even carries the machete around with him throughout his fights, using it as a primary form of combat.

2Arakune - BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

Arakune first appeared in BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. His base costume has a lot of different components, most of them giving him a terrifying appearance. This is because he is primarily made of liquid, and he houses different things like bugs, bones, and human parts that he can summon at any moment.

His body never appears as one cohesive form. Instead, he feels like a monster that’s constantly trying to recreate itself at all times by using the creatures and limbs inside of himself.

1Hisako - Killer Instinct

Hisako from Killer Instinct (2013) game is supposed to be an Onyro (an avenging ghost). However, Hisako is somewhat good as she is protective of the people that live in the village where she roams. For all players who are terrified of the Grudge, this character is bound to be equally terrifying as her base design looks like a walking sleep paralysis demon.

Her white garbs are almost entirely covered in blood, and her long black hair hangs low, covering her face at most times only to reveal a horrendous expression whenever she shows her face.
