As a Nintendo fan, it’s probably not surprising that I adored the SNES. They released many amazing games on that console, fromclassicslikeChrono TriggerandYoshi’s Islandto iconic adventures likeEarthBoundandSuper Mario RPG.
But even those were a small drop in a vast bucket. The truth is, there area lot of amazing gamesthat were released on the SNES that the majority of gamers probably haven’t played.

10Uniracers
Race and Rally
Release Date
December 1994
Many of us think ofTony Hawkgameswhen we think of doing neat tricks in gaming, butUniracershad it beaten by a few years.
ThoughUniracersis a 2D adventure, there’s some mild 3D used in the stunts you perform. Your goal is to keep the speed blazing while not wiping out.

As an added incentive, there are 45 different tracks to unlock and play through, as well as multiplayer fun.
A quirky little adventure, but stay tuned for plenty more!

9Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure
The Hero We Deserve
Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure
Back in the ’90s, gross-out culture was a big thing.Juvenile, certainly, but not without some fun.A great avatar of it was a game calledBoogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure.
It chronicles a “hero” named Snotty Ragsdale, whose alter ego is the cape-wearing Boogerman.

After getting sucked into an alternate dimension, he has to fight his way to freedom. And by fight, I generally mean farting, burping and booger ammunition.
While silly and childish, the game featured a colorful and attractive visual style, albeit one with an unusual color palette. Next up, one platformer near and dear to my heart.
8The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse
Disney & Capcom Join Forces!
The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse
I know it’s been a while since Disney games were something special. Back in the SNES era, however, they had a lot of great games published by Capcom. One of which was calledThe Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse.
After Pluto gets himself kidnapped by Emperor Pete, Mickey has to follow and save the day.At first, the iconic mouse can only jump and spin blocks at foes.
10 Best SNES Games, Ranked
From Earthbound to Super Mario World, here are the best games ever to release on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
As the game progresses, he acquires magical outfits that provide new powers, including a magician outfit, a firefighter suit, and rock climbing gear. Each of them isn’t just attractive, but changes how Mickey fights back and explores.
Best of all,The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mousefeatured gorgeous and colorful visuals that are still eye-catching to this day. A game I was proud to rent from my neighborhood Hollywood Video!
7Brain Lord
Enix Before Square
July 05, 2025
Longbefore they got gobbled up by Square, Enix published a lot of great adventures. But the one that most people haven’t tried is calledBrain Lord.
This game is a weird mix of top-down adventuring akin toLegend of Zelda, cute monsters that would fit right in withDragon Quest, and monster pals like inPokémon.
Your monster pals are called Jades, and they’re leveled up with special orbs. They can either help out by attacking foes or healing you.
The game is split across several dungeons, as well as an inexplicable battle arena in Toronto. A worthy and very weird SNES adventure.
6Metal Warriors
Run and Gun Mecha
Metal Warriors
I’m always interested in giant mecha games, andMetal Warriorsmixed those up with various suits that all have different armament.
This run-and-gun platformer has you engaging in 9 missions to defeat the vicious Dark Axis forces.
What was especially neat is that if your suit gets damaged, you can fly outside of it to find a new one.
If all else fails, there’s even a two-player deathmatch mode to try your luck against a friend. Achallenginglittle mecha adventure.
5Skyblazer
Fly Into Action
Sony Imagesoft
Platformer
January 1994
As a younger gamer, I was always jealous of the exclusive games that never came to North America.
While we gotSkyblazer, Japan arguably got the better version, with you playing the mythical Garuda instead of some hero named Sky.
That aside,Skyblazeris a great mix of platforming as well as expansive flying sections with flashy Mode 7 graphics.
It’s a pretty huge game, with more than 15 stages and several brutal bosses.
What was especially unique was the secondary attacks you could only utilize with magic power. A gorgeous and unique SNES title.
4Cybernator
Weapon of Mass Destruction
Run and gun, Platformer
July 23, 2025
IfCybernatorlooks familiar, it’s probably because in other regions it was calledAssault Suits Valken. Inexplicably, this prequel adventure got a different title in North America.
That aside, the game plays similarly toMetal Warriors, though with more aerial combat.
The SNES Version Of Aladdin Was Better Than The Genesis Version
What a time when two completely different licensed games of the same IP could exist at once.
What was especially surprising about the game was that it features more than one ending, which is pretty rare in the genre.
A neat mecha adventure, but we’ve saved the very best for the last three!
3Hagane: The Final Conflict
All Ninja, No Gaiden
Hagane: The Final Conflict
You know what’s even cooler than a ninja? A cyborg ninja. Don’t just take my word for it, that’s a scientific fact.
Hagane: The Final Conflictis a tale of revenge, with a ninja on the verge of death having his brain transplanted into a synthetic body with tremendous power and speed.
In the game itself, you can wield a sword, a chain, shuriken, and even grenades. There are also screen-clearing magical attacks and a large degree of maneuverability.
A great game, only held back by some repetitive and often short levels with no save functionality.
2Rocky Rodent
Hair Dos and Don’ts
September 1993
Now it’s time for a really weird one. A game about rodents, mobsters, and hairdos. A game calledRocky Rodent.
This is one of those games I played because I rented it back in the day.
Once I did, I founda colorful, strange world where my chosen hairdo provided different abilities.
Sound weird? Yup, it really was. But as a fan of the unique, this colorful platformer was well worth checking out, and near and dear to my heart.
But as always, we saved the very best for last!
1Demon’s Crest
Firebrand’s Revenge
Demon’s Crest
For those who have readsome of my other lists, it probably isn’t surprising thatDemon’s Cresttook the highest honors here.
Not only was this a formative game in my youth, but it still holds up as a platformer with gorgeous Gothic art and outstanding musical design.
If that wasn’t enough,it was a sort of proto Metroidvania, with Firebrand gaining new transformations and exploration powers as you progress.
You’ll need every single collectible to get that secret best ending, and you’ll need all your patience to beat the secret final boss.
A tremendous game that every fan of the genre owes themselves to check out!
