The monsters and environment alone are terrifying, but it’s the sadistic realism that makes the visuals crawl under our skin.
While investigating a gruesome mass murder, you’ll help detective Sebastian Castellanos fight for his life against wicked monsters in a world unfamiliar to him. The Evil Within, much like Resident Evil 4, encompasses what it means for a game to be an authentic survival horror. It ultimately creates a sense of dread and grueling anxiety in your stomach. And, even though it has a bit of a rough start, it finds its footing quickly.

9Silent Hill 4: The Room

You’re trapped in a room full of nightmares in Silent Hill 4: The Room. It’s hard for the community to fully agree on whichSilent Hillgame isthe best one, but the fourth installment is definitely up there in being an amazing addition. Following Henry Townshend in his journey to try and escape from his apartment, claustrophobic terror reigns upon him.
Unlike the previous games, Silent Hill 4 doesn’t take place in the iconic foggy town. Instead, the story is set in a fictional city in Ashfield. Although the game has its weaker moments, its gritty nature and strange antagonist are what make it a wonderful story for Resident Evil 4 fans to experience.

Still being in Early Access, Airtight City 1.0 has proven to be a masterpiece in progress. The gameplay and atmosphere alone prove that it’s a wonderful love letter toDead Spaceand Resident Evil. Drawing the character into a bloody world, its claustrophobic nature isn’t the only thing that will make you terrified.
Airtight City 1.0 accomplishes scaring us with classic survival horror gameplay through its enemy design. The inspiration from Resident Evil is also not shoved in our faces, showcasing that it’s its own game and has its own identity. With all this said, Airtight City 1.0 is an underrated experience that you definitely need to dive into. If you’ve already played most of the mainstream games similar to Resident Evil 4, this game will be a unique breath of fresh air.

But rather, you’re faced with creatures right out of a cosmic horror story.Preyis Bethesda’s take ona sci-fi survival horror, immersing us in its gameplay with its use of first-person shooter mechanics.

Even though Resident Evil 4 isn’t really sci-fi, how quickly the protagonist gets pushed into an environment flooded with bloodthirsty enemies will remind players of the terrifying combat — not to mention the difficulty of killing these monsters. All-in-all, Prey is a tragic story revolving around failed experimentation and the ruthless aftermath.

Putting you in a technician Replika’s world, she searches for her lost dreams and partner. Throughout the game, you’ll uncover a terrifying mystery all while trying to escape from ruthless creatures. In addition, the beautiful pixel art gives Signalis a nostalgic feel.
Showcasing a cosmic dread and melancholic experience, the horror relies on psychologically affecting you. On the other hand, Signalis gives you an emotional experience that easily brings you to tears. Much like Resident Evil 4, the game is a rollercoaster from the very start. It even holds up on a replay — knowing how it ends makes it all the more exciting.

SOMAexplores deep philosophical topics like consciousness and what it means to be a human being. It’s a gripping survival horror that makes you easily afraid of the dark, wondering what creature could possibly be lurking in the depths. Taking place in an “abandoned” underwater facility, the atmosphere is enough to keep you terrifyingly hooked.
The horror in SOMA mainly revolves around being unable to fight back against the constant monsters. It’s best to focus on your stealth, or your quick wit, to get away from them. What makes Soma a perfect game for a Resident Evil 4 fan is how uniquely the protagonist approaches having to venture through the deep unknown.

Put on a mining ship, you soon discover that everyone has been brutally murdered — leading you to face a ruthless nightmare. Through its jaw-dropping visuals and interactivity with the protagonist, the remake took the original and made this unforgettable survival horror game even better than before.

The original Resident Evil 2 is nearly everything survival horror fans could want. However, its 2019 remake brought a new vision for the game itself. Transforming how we’d go on to view Leon Kennedy’s bravery and the emotional events that went on to influence those in Resident Evil 4, the sequel’sremake is the perfectintroduction to Leon as a whole.

You follow Joel and Ellie on their journey across the post-apocalyptic United States. Along the way, the two fight tooth and nail to kill cannibalistic creatures mutated by a strange fungus.
What makes The Last of Us the greatest games for Resident Evil 4 fans to play is how well it intertwines mutated enemies and lore within one another. There’s an unforgettable story in The Last of Us that has it stand out as its own game, but fighting against mutated enemies while trying to navigate through dangerous lands should remind you of the familiar ruthless journey in Resident Evil 4.
