Triple-A console games are not that popular in South Korea which speweda lot of doubtwith Shift Up’s ambitious project but the developers did not falter from negativity. Kim must have felt a great deal of pride after Taro shared his thoughts aboutStellar Bladeand believes it is a better game than his creation.
I have been inspired by NieR: Automata in so many ways that it’s hard to point out one specific thing. The game has so many fascinating elements. The image of a strong female warrior in a devastated world left by its inhabitants struck me. I was also impressed by the quality of the story. I enjoyed playing the game so much and of course I saw all the endings

Kim also heavily cited the combat ofNier: Automataas a great inspiration for the game’s combat system which resembles thedifficulty and style of Soulslike gameslikeElden Ring. Perhaps it is why the demo did extremely well than Square Enix’sFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthin terms of daily active users.

Stellar Blade is a really amazing game. I’d say that it’s much better than NieR:Automata.

Taro’s seal of approval can boost the morale and Shift Up knowing that a fellow Asian developer is enamored by a project that took inspiration from another great game. The gaming industry is truly fortunate to have humble and creative directors like Taro and Kim respectively.
